Nipah guesthouse on Pangkor island

We love to stay in guesthouses and prefer them over big hotels or resorts. Nipah guesthouse is situated on Pangkor Island, 15 minutes walking from Coral beach. We stayed four nights in this cute guesthouse and had a great holiday. Very clean, relaxing and unique. The owners Alicia and Anouar made us feel like home and were very helpfull.

The breakfast is a do-it-yourself concept, all food is provided like toast, eggs and pancake mix. You just have to make it yourself and do your own dishes.

We visited this Mosque near Mont Kiara when my mother visited us in Malaysia. When we arrived at the entrance, the most friendly volunteer ‘Rose’ was happy to show us the mosque. The tour took about 1 hour and we really recommend it if you ever want to visit a mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

Tours are free of charge and you are free to choose whether to leave a donation or not. Hijab’s and long dresses are available at the entrance for women, so you don’t need to worry what to wear before you go.

10 things to do in Melaka with kids

When traveling  Malaysia, a trip to Melaka is a must.  You will learn al lot about the history and culture of Melaka. The city is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.
We enjoyed it very much and want to share 10 things to do in Melaka with kids. Two days and one night is enough to visit the whole city. Our hotel, Da Som Inn was right behind Jonker street, nice location, clean rooms, friendly and helpfull staff and good breakfast.

  1. Ride a trishaw: This is a easy and fun way to explore the city, the kids really loved this kitschy ride.

2. Eat local food: When you are in Melaka you have to eat local

3. Menara Tower: The revolving tower gives you a nice view over Melaka

4. Walk in Jonker street (night market)

5. Baba Nyonya museum

6. St. Paul’s hill and church

7. River cruise and/or river walk

8. Flora de la Mar Maritime Museum

9. Red Square (Dutch square)

10. A Famosa, an old Portugese fortress

Farm in the city!

A fun thing to do with kids is ‘Farm in the city’ in Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan, between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Children can pet and feed cute animals as bunny’s, turtles, birds, snakes,..

We have spent a couple of hours in the farm on a sunday morning and it was not crowdy at all.

Genting Highlands

Genting highlands is a popular weekend getaway for the Malaysian people. The temperature is much lower then in KL and only 1 hour drive. You can reach the highlands with a cable car. This was for us the best part of the trip.

When we arrived at the top, we were a bit disappointed. There was a lot of mist and it was raining, so we couldn’t enjoy the nice view. The only thing to do with our kids was stroll around the mall and have lunch.

Penang with kids day 3

Penang has it all! Jungle, sea, beach, city and culture.

George Town is a Unesco world heritage site in Penang. It was such a hot day so we decided to take a trishaw to explore the city with its beautiful street art and houses.
