Pulau Pangkor is an island on the west coast of Malaysia. Only 3,5 hour drive from Kuala Lumpur to Lumut. In Lumut, you take a ferry to the island, but you are not allowed to take your car to the island. There are a lot of parkings near the ferry. We stayed in Nipah guesthouse and really really loved this cute little guesthouse. We stayed 5 days/4 nights and didn’t get bored. Here is our top 5 of things to do on Pangkor island.
- Have dinner on Coral beach and watch the sunset
There are a few nice restaurants on Coral beach: ‘Daddy’s café’ and ‘Nipah Deli steamboat and noodle house’ are two of our recommendations.
2. Relax/play on the beach
Holiday on an island is equal to relaxing on the beach. Not that easy with two children full of energy. Take an uncle, go to Coral beach, enjoy watching them play in the sand and drink a cocktail (or two or three). Daddy’s café has delicious cocktails and lots of choices.
3. Visit Pangkor Town and play games with the local children
We like to meet local people to see how they live. On a basketball field in the Kampung our kids enjoyed playing with the local children. They were happy to teach us how to play with a toll.
4. Snorkeling trip
At Nipah beach you can book a snorkeling trip, no need to book in advance. We visited Pangkor with Chinese New Year and it was very crowded on Coral island.
5. Jungle trek
Walk from Nipah beach to the inland for a hike to Coral beach. Be aware of leeches, we had to stop our trekking because we weren’t prepared for these little creepy creatures. Wear long trousers and (leech) socks.
